RESCUE COMPANY 1
Rescue Company 1 was established on November 16, 1983. The rescue responds to all confirmed working fires, motor vehicle crashes, hazardous materials incidents, building collapses, confined space rescue, water rescue, and any other incident that requires specialized equipment or training. Rescue 1 is also part of the Special Emergency Assistance Rescue (SPEAR) Team 5. If a major incident occurs in Northern New Jersey that requires special equipment, members of the rescue company will respond with Rescue 2. Both Rescues 1 and 2 are stationed at the Eagle Ave Firehouse.
RESCUE 1 "Born to run!"
Rescue 1 currently operates a 2011 American La France rescue. This is the fourth rescue to see service as Rescue 1. The equipment Rescue 1 carries on board is specialized equipment used for structure fires, motor vehicle crashes, building collapses, confined space rescues, hazardous materials incidents, water rescues, and any other incident an engine company, ladder company or squad company is not prepared for. Rescue 1's motto is "Born to run" because Rescue 1 is always on the run throughout the city and neighboring jurisdictions.
RESCUE 2
Rescue 2 is a 2012 Seagrave. This rescue is only staffed when needed. If a major incident occurs in Jakeland, off duty members of Rescue 1 and Squads 3 and 10 will staff the rescue. Rescue 2 is the primary rescue for SPEAR Team 5. If a major incident occurs that requires the SPEAR Team, members of Rescue 1 will respond with Rescue 2 to the location of the incident. The equipment carried on Rescue 2 is specialized equipment used for motor vehicle crashes, structure fires, confined space rescues, building collapses, hazardous materials incidents, water rescues, and any other equipment that a engine or ladder company does not carry.
