March 18, Bergen St 2nd Alarm Fire
Firefighters fought a 2nd Alarm fire in a 3 story tax payer. The cause for the fire was determined to be an electrical extension cord. All units that operated at the scene were Engines 5, 1, 4, 2, 15, 6, Ladder 3, Tower Ladders 1, 2, Squad 10, Rescue 1, Battalion 1 and Deputy 4.
April 1, Bulldog St 2nd Alarm
Jakelands Bravest battled a 2 Alarm house fire on Bulldog St. A classic car left running in an attached garage caught fire. The fire would spread to the home before firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control. All units that operated at the scene were Engines 2, 4, 15, 5, 1, 6, Ladders 7, 3, Tower Ladder 1, Squad 10, Rescue 1, Battalions 1, 2 and Deputy 1.
May 27, Sussex St 2nd Alarm
A 2 Alarm apartment fire occurred on Sussex St. Firefighters were forced to evacuate the building after flames flashed and quickly burned through the roof. Two firefighters were injured at this incident. All units that operated at the scene were Engines 5, 1, 4, 2, 15, 6, Ladder 3, Towers 1, 2, Squad 10, Rescue 1, Battalion 1 and Deputy 2.
June 28, Dutchman Lumber General Alarm Fire
The biggest fire on 2018 occurred at the Dutchman Lumber on Railroad Ave. Every fire unit in the City of Jakeland operated at this scene after a malfunction occurred at the propane filling station. Mutual Aid from Westbrick, Liberty County, Rochelle Heights, St Lego, Lego Twp, Riverwoods, Portage, North Lereado County, Lego Regional, Brick Borough and Buena Vista responded into the scene to help and covered empty firehouses across the city.
July 22, Skyline Drive 3rd Alarm
An early morning house fire on Skyline Drive brought in 3 Alarms. During a severe thunderstorm, lightning struck the house and caused the fire. Due to the intense heat, Westbricks Rehab Unit was requested to the scene to assist. Engines 7, 9, 12, 13, 6, 1, 15, 4, Tower Ladders 4, 2, 1, Ladder 3, Squad 3, Rescue 1, Battalions 1, 2 and Deputy 1 operated at the scene.
August 30, St Peters Ave 2nd Alarm
While patrolling the area, Jakeland Police Officers discovered a working fire at the St Leo's Italian Market on St Peters Ave. The fire grew to a 2nd Alarm assignment. All units that operated at the scene were Engines 4, 15, 2, 1, 5, 6, Tower Ladder 1, Ladder 7, Ladder 3, Squad 3, Rescue 1, Battalions 1, 2 and Deputy 2.
September 11, Central Ave All Hands
Jakelands Bravest battled an apartment fire on Central Ave. A dryer fire on the first floor of a 3 story brick apartment building brought in Engines 6, 12, 13, 9, Tower Ladders 2, 4, Squad 3, Rescue 1, Battalion 2 and Deputy 3.
October 30, Mischief Night
The Jakeland FD was once again kept busy on "Mischief Night". Thankfully this year there were no attacks made on first responders. From 7 PM October 30th to 7 AM October 31st, the Jakeland FD operated at 33 incidents across the city which included vehicle fires, rubbish/bush fires, activated fire alarms, first aid and motor vehicle crashes.
November 1, Burnside Ave 2nd Alarm
For the second straight night, Jakelands Bravest were kept busy due to Halloween. Early in the morning of November 1st, firefighters were dispatched to Burnside Ave for a working fire in an abandoned home. All units that operated at the scene were Engines 6, 13, 7, 12, 9, 15, Tower Ladders 2, 4, Squad 3, Battalion 2, Deputy 3, Lego Regional Fire Authority Engine 21, Rochelle Heights Fire Dept. Truck 832.
November 30, Boulevard 3rd Alarm
Firefighters battled a 3 Alarm structure fire at the "Hungry Hog BBQ" restaurant on the Boulevard. Improper maintenance of cooking equipment caused the fire which quickly spread to the upper floors and through the roof of the three story brick taxpayer. All units that operated at the scene were Engines 7, 9, 12, 13, 6, 4, 1, 15, Tower Ladders 4, 2, 1, Ladder 3, Squads 3, 10, Rescue 1, Battalions 2, 1, Deputy Chief 4, St Lego Air Unit and Westbrick Rehab. Mutual Aid from Lego Twp, Riverwoods, Brick Borough, Liberty County, Rochelle Heights and Portage County stood by across the city. One firefighter suffered a minor injury at this incident.
December 17, New Engine 6 Delivered
Engine 6 placed its new 2018 Pierce Arrow XT engine in service. The 2015 Spartan engine was re-assigned to Engine 12.
December 25, Paterson Ave 2nd Alarm
Firefighters battled a 2 Alarm structure fire at a auto body shop on Paterson Ave. Engines 13, 6, 12, 9, 7, 15, Tower Ladders 2, 4, 1, Squad 3, Rescue 1, Battalions 2, 1 and Deputy 3 operated at the scene.
