415 Jakeland Ave "The Bull Squad!"
The firehouse located at 415 Jakeland Ave in Jakeland Heights was constructed in 1984. Engine 10 was originally housed here after being established in 1985 during the second phase of the expansion of the Jakeland Fire Dept. In 1995 Engine 10 was disbanded due to budget cuts and the firehouse remained empty until 1999. On November 16, 1999, Squad 10 was established and moved into the Jakeland Ave firehouse.
Squad Company 10
Squad Company 10 was established on November 16, 1999. They currently operate a 2013 Pierce Quantum PUC equipped with a 75' ladder. This is Squad Company 10's second ladder. Squad 10 is equipped with a 1,500 GPM pump and a 500 gallon tank. The equipment carried on board Squad 10 is a combination of engine company tools, truck company tools and rescue company tools. Squad 10 responds to car accidents requiring extrication, hazardous materials incidents, building collapses, structure fires, water rescues, and other incidents requiring special equipment. Squad 10 got its nickname the "Bull Squad" because of a painting that was inside the firehouse when Engine 10 was housed at 415 Jakeland Ave. To keep the tradition and spirit alive of Engine 10, Squad 10 adopted the Bull and kept the painting in place to this day. Squad 10 was the busiest engine in the city in 2007.
